About Us

Sierra Energy is an IP development and licensing company founded in 2004 in Davis, California. Sierra holds patents around the world for its FASTOX™ technology.

The FASTOX™ process was developed by Bruce Claflin (Chief Industrial Engineer – Kaiser Steel) and John Jasbinsek (consultant for Kaiser Steel). While they were initially only looking for a way to way to produce iron more efficiently, they noticed that their process was even better at cleanly and efficiently converting a wide variety of waste streams into energy. FASTOX™ is thus a new use of a very old technology.

Sierra Energy develops its IP by expanding its know-how, expertise, contacts, and resources to develop FASTOX™ technology for application in its three primary operating modes – waste gasification, energy generation, and iron making. That includes the development of optimal feed stock handling, preparation, and in-feed designs, feedstock specific gasification system operations and controls, gas extraction and gas handling, and metals and slag handling and remarketing.

Rather than become a gasifier manufacturer, a project builder, a development company or a project owner/operator, competing with the many well-established and experienced manufacturers, builders, developers, and owner/operators that already exist around the world, Sierra Energy has chosen to become the recognized leader in the application of its technology in each sector, bringing valuable solutions to our customers. Sierra Energy stands ready to work with project sponsors to help them develop high value projects to cleanly and economically reduce waste, generate energy, or more cleanly and efficiently make iron.
